| posted: 12/17/2004 at 7:45:21 AM ET i reckon that you need to try a lot of different instruments to see which one is really you. i tried guitar, violin, keyboard and recorder before trying the flute. i found that i was quite a natural with it. my teacher thought it was amazing. i am not trying to boast but i know that i am not bad at playing it. the people who think the sax would be good to play are completely biased! you need to try a range. nothing is too hard for a beginner, that is what a beginner is, learning an instrument! i would say though that a recorder is good to learn to read music with, this is what all my friends learnt to read music with and they are all very good at the instruments they have progressed onto. i play the flute and i think it is a great instrument to play so i would say try it, but if you don't feel that little attachment then no, leave it! when i played guitar i new after 5 lessons i couldn't do it, i didn't feel comfortable. as soon as i picked up the flute, i could play it right away and almost knew what to do with my fingers right away. you do need to have a few lessons before you really get into it. i have been playing the flute for 2 years and i LOVE it. good luck in finding the right instrument!

I am also 12 and will be 13 in August. Also I play the saxophone it is a great instrument. If you like a challenge then this is a good insterment. the only reason I say that is because it takes some practice if you want to be good at it. I am not as good as some of my friends but I keep practicing and I am catching up. The saxophone is a very insterment I really enjoy playing and think that you should try to play it.
sincerely

P.S
Post your decision so I know

Yeah, I can see your point.
That one about the trills is a classic.
So, what does it mean if a Piano-accordian player is dribbling out of both sides of his mouth at the same time? It means the stage is level...
It's the instrument from hell, I think.

| posted: 3/27/2005 at 1:55:16 PM ET Many of my mates started with clarinet, but I wanted to try something new. Instead I learned flute. It is great and if u have the right mouth shape you can make some lovely sounds. It is easy 2 learn and you can start from their and move up 2 saxophone! Thats what I have done, but now that I play flute Saxophone is much easier.Flute is best aswell as saxophone!
