Working as a doctor in America is one of the most prestigious and well-paid jobs. It takes 11 to 15 years to study to become a doctor. Still, if you are interested in the medical field, you can work in other specialties. The average salary of EKG technicians is $59,600, and it takes 1-2 years to study this profession.
But if your goal is to become, e.g., a surgeon, you have a long way to go. In America, you must already have one college degree to enter medical school. Students take a pre-medical program during their undergraduate studies: they study basic science and medical disciplines to prepare for the MCAT exam, and only then can they enter medical school.
