Around 16 I promised myself a sterling rock and roll career should I ever have the money to buy a Fender Strat. Last July I got began to have some interest again in getting a guitar, and got talked into buying an acoustic so that I "Learned good habits", and I did. I've been playing nearly every day since then and am having a blast.
After 3.5 months though, I'm still having some troubles. Even though I've switched to "lighter" strings, I still get a great deal of pain and grooves in my finger tips that are so deep, it becomes difficult to fret the strings properly. I have calluses so thick I have to sand them with an emery board. Am I doing this wrong? Do you have any suggestions?

string that also could be the reason
Hope That Helped

I'm not sure about fast, on a good day my chords ring out like Big Ben sounding tea time.
But, I am working hard to make sure the chords are clean, I don't like the fuzz. So I'm thinking I may be playing a bit hard, at least on the frets. I'll be working on that =)
