Go to a good search engine, like Dogpile, and type in "'call and response"", or ""field hollers"".

A lot of the blues originated in the South during the dark ages of slavery in the US. Many songs were sung about the misery and suffering of the African slaves who toiled in the fields of southern plantations. This is also where Gospel music had it's roots. Imagine being able to praise God in such harsh conditions. I guess like the Hebrews did in Egypt. That is the wonder and awe of the human race! I guess that's why you start to feel better when you sing the blues.

I am a fragment of my imagination
