What is a shuffle rhythm?

If I'm not mistaken, a shuffle rhythm would be like, a dotted 8th note, a 16th note, a dotted 8th, 16th, and it just keeps going like that, and of course you could change the note values like to a dotted quarter, an 8th, a dotted quarter, 8th, etc. as long as the rhythm is the same.
