A bugle does not have valves. A Bb bugle plays the same notes as a trumpet when the valves aren't pushed down (C,G,C,E,G, etc.).

You can do bugle calls on your trumpet by using all open notes, or all notes using the same fingering (try using 1st and 3rd valves down, it will be in a good range for you. Try playing taps starting on low D, then keep those fingers down; you end up playing G, B and D with that alternate fingering and it sounds just like a Bugle would).
