#beginquote# People may not take the harmonica seriously perhaps because it is marketed as a toy. Just look in your local dollar store. You can pick up a cheap harmonica for your little one to blow on and make noise with. Perhaps it is THAT image that stays with people. As a fan of all different kinds of music, I don't have a problem with the harmonica. I admire anyone who is able to play no matter what the instrument. I think you care too much about what others think or say about the harmonica. What do you care? As long as it stirs your soul that's all that really matters now isn't it? I am learning how to play the guitar. Believe me when I say that I have had my fair share of rude comments made to me about the guitar and my desire to play it. I am a 41 year old mother of 2. Me and my guitar don't fit the average person's expectations of what a guitar player should be and people don't mind tellin' me. That is human nature though. We can't change the way people think. So we have to make a choice. We can either quit because others just don't get it, or we can suck it up and carry on doing what we like regardless of what others think. Worry about the things you can control not about the things you can't. Good luck and happy playing. #endquote#
