#beginquote# If for example music is written in 4/4 time and a measure has a half-note followed by 3 quarter-notes connected by a bracket above them, how would those notes be played? I maintain the three bracketed notes should be played as though they were each a "1/6" note (1/3 the value of a half-note), in even tempo. My "adversary" says they should be played unevenly,as though they were written as, for example, a quarter note, a dotted eighth note, and a sixteenth note (or whatever adds up to two beats, to be determined by the reader ?????????) Who's right? #endquote#
