#beginquote# Fux ( with a name like that, he had to excell at something:))is credited with creating the species counterpoint technique. His Music students learnt composition techniques step by step and composed in the same way , beginning with a part in even notes to which they would then add the next part in notes of the same length, then two notes against each other, then 3 and then 4 (against each one, then a syncopated part (one against one, but moving alternately) and finally a combination of all these. 16th Cent, I think. The effect is a layering of sound, and is very impressive. There is an Australian composition called ""Dawn Mantras"" which uses this method, but I can't recall the composer5s name. Nice stuff. #endquote#
