#beginquote# A # means to play the named note one, 1/2 step higher. An f in the music would be f#. They are not the same note. Find a picture of a piano (they are all over the 'net). Find a note, go to the white or black DIRECTLY next to it higher and it would be that note sharp. Go DIRECTLY lower and the note is flat. As far as I know a , or ' means to breathe. Since violins don't have to breathe it could be a phrase mark or some type of bowing. #endquote#
