#beginquote# The best way to tell the difference between the different time periods is to listen frequently. One of the differences in the earlier styles was the instruments. As time went on instruments were imoroved and new instruments invented. The music evolved also, as with any other genre. Writers experimented with different progressions and different instrument combinations. If you listen to a good classical radio station, the hosts explain a lot about the music and what period it is from, just as a DJ does on say a rock or pop station. I'm not an opera lover,(I like the music not the voice), but the same goes for that. I am a fragment of my imagination #endquote#
