#beginquote# When reading sheet music, in the key signature there is most often at least one sharp or flat. I was once informed that this was the key that the song was played in. However, the base note is usually a G or F. So my question is, what purpose does the sharp or flat serve, and how do you determine what key the song is played in? #endquote#
