I would like to get information about Mendelssohn's oratorio Paulus. I don't know exactly what does it say about.

First, get a copy of the music (from a library or something) and read the liner notes to get a gist of what it is about..
Then, you can look for Paul in Mendelssohn books, as well as the New Grove dictionary of music and musicians, and the music index
start with these
