How do you know when to play 6/8 time in 2?

usually if it's a really fast 6/8, you will play it in 2. If you have a conductor, he or she will let you know if they are conducting in 2. If it's a piece you are working on by yourself, it's your own decision. Just whatever is easiest to you.
