I know that the key of C has no sharps or flats, but how do I learn what sharps or flats to play in other keys?

Wow, it's been awhile. There's irritating, complicated theory behind how they are setup, but I found it easier just to memorize them.
Key of C: no sharps/flats
Ths sharps
Key of G: F#
Key of D: F#, C#
Key of A: F#, C#, G#
Key of E: F#, C#, G#, D#
Key of B: F#, C#, G#, D#, A#
The flats
Key of F: Bb
Key of Bb: Bb, Eb

if you put a small dot net to a note whats the dot worth?

the small dot added to the note means you add half off the note value to the current note. For example, if you add a dot to a half note.. that note is now worth a half PLUS a quarter.. for a total of three beats
