How can I train myself to have an ear for the different notes in music. Eg., to know when someone plays a C. Or to know how to look at music and know what a B note sounds like. Is this possible??

Try Ear Training. I find it very useful when trying to learn how to play music by ear.

You can refine your ear but you can't LEARN to have perfect pitch. You're born with it. There are sites who claim to tech perfect pitch. They can't.
