Kiyya,

You are only just beginning -- give yourself time to learn. Are you working with a teacher? What method book(s) are you using?

You didn't state what in particular is most confusing for you. Talk to your teacher. Most new piano students become impatient with the slow process of learning. Please understand that you will get out of piano lessons what you put into practice! If theory is baffling you, there are plenty of web sites that will help you to learn the rudiments.

Relax and enjoy the process of learning. Best wishes.

Hi Kiyya,

Mynusong gave you excellent advice.

You should checkout piano world - www.pianoworld.com - there are forums for adult beginners, teachers etc. You'll find that you have a lot of company.

I started taking lessons about 5 years ago at the ripe age of 60 and it's challenging and there were times that I wanted to "throw in the rag" - but as my teacher said the other day "you are determined". It takes discipline and lots of practice, but it's well worth the trip. So go for it and enjoy.

Keep us up-to-date.
