I can play piano pretty well I'm just awful at sight-reading. If I hear a piece several times and then practice the music for several weeks I can learn to play it. Once I have it memorized that's it, I sound great. People are always asking me to play for church and groups and I always decline because I simply can't read music well enough. It takes me 20-30 minutes to get through an average 4-stanza hymn.

I've seen a couple of books that look good on Amazon.com (Super Sight-Reading Secrets by Howard Richman & Music Reading For Keyboard by Larry Steelman). I didn't know if I should get these or if anyone had any suggestions.

~Thanks

I suggest making flash cards with different notes on them, and ask someone to quiz you.
or you can sit down and study the notes. then take a piece of real music and say the notes to your self. youll get faster every time, and it always works!
