which instruments are the highest and lowest in the percussionsection-i'm confused!

I suppose bongos would be the highest of the head drums (membranophones) and the bass drum or largest tympani the lowest.

In the keyboards, orchestra bells would be considered the highest and marimba the lowest.

I'm relating this to the traditional band/orchestra so if you are referring to some exotic instrument, who knows.

Not sure what this relates to. Kind of a silly question to ask of a student from a teacher in my opinion, since percussion are not usually thought of as "highest" or "lowest" pitch. This sounds like a question from a teacher to a student. We get a lot of these.

I would say that the highest is the snare drum and the lowest would be the "dinner bell". If you are stuck playing a percussion instrument that only has two or three appearances in the music, I would suggest a little practice and a renewed dedication to music.
