I have a very very basic idea of what pitch is but don't know enough. Could someone please give a brief description of what pitch is or a website that gives information on pitch. Thanks.

Here's a simple explanation. If you've ever heard of a pitch pipe, then you'll know that when played, it has different notes. These notes represent different pitches. You would play the first note from the music of a song and that would be your starting point. You have to know how to read music, or have the melody memorized to continue the song. The pitch pipe is the starting point. It is only necessary when there are no instruments to play the music. I have seen Cantors use a pitch pipe in church when music is not played. You can look under keys or key signiatures for further more detailed information. Try www.teoria.com Hope this helps.
