Some orchestras do have saxophones in them. But only a few.

The saxophone has very similar fingerings to the bass clarinet. i play both. so if you were thinking about changing instruments go with that because the embouchure is very similar to the saxophones. good luck!

I think you should try the clarinet because it is very similar to the alto sax
