woodwind brasswind has a Eber for 699 (selmer)
http://www.wwbw.com/Selmer-1405-Eb-Clarinet-i36925.music

interstate music is the same price for the same brand.

http://www.1800usaband.com/htmls/catview.asp?CategoryID=9

has the selmer and a leblanc for 699.

For this price you're not getting a pro instrument, but selmer and leblanc are good name brands.

God knows why you WANT an Eber. Hard to play in tune and to play in general.

I got 2 Weimar trumpets on ebay. Granted, they do not produce the same quality sound as my $2000 professional horn, but all in all, I was actually quite impressed with how well they played. In my personal opinion, for the money, this is really a great horn. For middle school, and some high school students who are just getting started, or are not too serious about playing yet, its not a bad horn at all. I can still hit low notes, and pretty high notes really pretty easy with this horn.

Again, this is in no means a professional horn, and so if you are expecting such, then you'll have to fork out a LOT more money. Although, if you are looking for a pretty good horn, at a pretty good price, I'd recommend it.

The problem with horns of this type is the durability factor that a beginning student puts on an instrument. If you have 2 $2000 horns, you know how to handle them. Also my brass teacher in college could play a Bach Strad and piece of junk behind a screen and we couldn't tell which was which. My point is that you can play it well because you're a good player.

My son decided to play the saxophone last year. We were going to lease (to buy) him a sax from a local music store and were shocked that it would be $1800.00 So, we searched ebay high and low. Every instrument I found, I emailed to the band teacher. He had a fit that I would even think about buying an "off brand" that he had never heard of. He gave me a list of name brands. I finally found a new selmer sax (Yes, on ebay) that we paid just over $500.00 for. There are some great used brand name instruments out there if you keep your eyes open. I'm sure glad that my son's teacher was so picky. We ended up paying more than we would have for the Weimar or Ceclilo brand, but much less than the music store. Very satisfied here. Don't give up if you're in this situations.... keep looking! :]

One of my students has a Weimar flute. It is falling apart after 18 months. Repairmen won't work on it and I can't fix it either. Beware!

Weimar, be they flutes, clarinets, baritones, trumpets, whatever. They're Chinese TRASH. read this: http://reviews.ebay.com/The-Insider-apos-s-Guide-to-Buying-a-Beginner-Flute_W0QQugidZ10000000000818282
This is what Weimar falls under. They could give children lead poisoning, for God's sake!!! Just make a wise decision and don't buy one, they're crap.

My dad bought me a Weimer flute for my birthday off Ebay... about two years ago. I'm in the music program at school and I'm also in a winds ensemble. I've only had one minor problem with it a year and a half ago, and then there was some major damage done recently (my friends were fiddling with my flute and when I got it back, there was a dent).

The top music store in Montreal, Twigg, was able to fix my flute both times at a reasonable price. There are no more dents and the sound quality is fine.

I guess I'm an exception then. Although Twigg had never heard of Weimar before, they managed to fix it.
