Hi,
I am a young clarinetist interested in knowing why do violinists,violists and chellists vibrate their fingers when playing a note? thanks for your replies

well it gives a vibrating sound. it gives a long short song. like trumpets we vibrate our fingers to vibrate the sound.

It sustains the note, and gives it a vibrato.

Don't know if it sustains the sound, but it does give vibrato.
