Reading music takes practice, practice, practice.

A good teacher is a great help in learning, do you have one?

You might consider buying some simple fake book arrangments of popular songs to give you a good start. The notes are bigger and have the name listed within. They also list the chord name above the meoldy line. So, play the chord in triad form in you left hand while plucking out the melody with your right hand. E-Z peazy!
