Can you please tell me the meaning of the word SYNCOPATION this may have been copied down wrong not sure

Syncopation, is when there is rhythmic motion ...off the main beats....as in instead of quarter quarter quarter in 3/4 time...the rhythm would be something like ...eighth quarter quarter eighth. A shift of accent in a passage or composition that occurs when a normally weak beat is stressed ...hope this helps
