Curious as to why you'd want to do this.... Is there a problem with your viola as it is now?

The only problem you might run into is that the C string might be a little too thick to physically fit into the violin. That's not to say it can't be done, though. In fact my wife plays the viola, and her first viola was actually a violin strung as a viola. She was advised, though, to get into a full-size viola as soon as possible since the tonal quality is affected by the physical size of the body, i.e. a violin strung as a viola will not sound as rich as a 15" viola, which, in turn, will not sound as rich as a 17" viola. To get the best sound out a viola, you should play the largest one you physically can - that's why I'm curious why you would want to change.
