Registered: 8/8/2005 | posted: 8/8/2005 at 2:53:37 PM ET Hi, Im 15 and from the uk, Ive been singing ever since i can remember, and i also play the violin, but i get bored very easily and have asked to start playing the oboe. It should arrive soon. Does anybody have any tips for me that would help me start playing, and actualy making a good noise. and any other helpful tips please. Thankyou.

Registered: 5/26/2004 | posted: 8/8/2005 at 11:03:47 PM ET The problem with th oboe is that it is the only wind instrument that has no support to the lips when playing. It is ALL lip. First and formost get and maintain good reeds. It is critical. The fingerings aren't that hard. The biggest problems are getting a good sound and tuning.
