Registered: 7/20/2005 | posted: 8/8/2005 at 1:23:57 PM ET When playing a high note on the trumpet ,such as a high Eflat, seems like it gets to loud because it takes a lot of air to reach the high notes. In summer band we played a song called "How deep is your love". Well in the song the trumpets have to get to a high Eflat while playing P(piano). Can anyone give me tips to keep the volume down while playing up high.

The reason it comes out so loud is that many younger players use more air than embouchure to get the note. I'm the opposite. As a percussion major I don't have the breath support, but I have a good embouchure (plus lots of lip slurs). With a good wamrup I can get a Super C. OH, YES I CAN!It's not very loud
