what is "tongue" and how do you do it? i know you don't do it at slurs or ties but nothing else

tounge means that u tougne the note or say too(for the trumpets) AND WHY ARE FLUTES SO QUITE. I DON'T GET IT THEY BLOW AS HARD AS THEY CAN BUT IT STILL SOUNDS SO SOFT?

Tounging is a way to speed up your playing. there are three types of tounging: single tounging, double, and triple tounging. I wouldn't suggest to try to double or triple toungue though, until you are quite a bit more advanced. All single tounging is is making a "tuh" sound with the toungue. FYI: double tounging is " tu ku tu ku", and triple is "tkt tkt tkt tkt", almost like triplets. Hope this helps.
