I followed much of the music throughout the day. Unfortunately, I missed the Pink Floyd set, as I was at a friends farm, and didn't have access to a radio, other the sitting in the car, but that wasn't an option. Anyway there is a website explaining the purpose behind the concerts. The main goal is to try and influence the G8 summit members to do more to reduce debt, increase funding, and more importantly, to put pressure on corrupt leaders to stop the atrocities in their lands. The site is www.live8live.com. the people behind this effort feel confident that with enough world support, these people will listen. God, I hope this is the stepping stone towards the world peace that is fortold in the New Testament. I would love for my kids to witness that!

I am a fragment of my imagination

Everytime the U.S. tries to do this, we get reamed by the U.N. and the world.

If you think long and hard about all the problems that people around the world face each and every day, what do you really think that governments can do. Quite frankly, there is not one government in this world that can fix the problems in poverty stricken countries. You speak of a world peace mentioned in the New Testament. There is no world peace, only eternal life for those who choose to follow Jesus Christ. Have a read of the bible and you will see that it is only those who have given their lives to Christ and are saved that will be raptured into heaven. The rest face judgement and many worse events following the second coming of Christ. I hope your children may see Jesus, but they will only do that if they become a true Christian.

It' a beginning to a long overdue crisis. While we are here waiting for Christ to return we are to alleviate suffering if at all possible. Thank God for people caring.

IMO, if the people who put on the concert really cared about putting an end to world hunger, they would have made the event about raising "money" for it, instead of raising "awareness". And they would have started by dipping into their own overflowing bank accounts and giving large sums of money (which they can easily afford) towards the cause. I mean, seriously folks, raising awareness won't put any food in those starving kids' mouths. I'm sure they couldn't care less about how "aware" we are of their situation, just as long as we're doing something tangible to do something about it.

Horn, I agree completely. The performers on the stage probably clear in the 10s of millions annualy and pee off (trying to nice) in a day what I make in a year. If world hunger bothers them so much why aren't THEY donating money for the cause. I would wager that few do so.

"" they would have made the event about raising "money" for it, instead of raising "awareness". "" or even better, raise "'Awareness'" to the fact that the average deposit figure totaled by African leaders per country per decade in Swiss, Honduras and Vanuatu protected bank accounts is 30 billion dollars.
Each African, man, woman and child has received five thousand dollars US since 1997, a huge sum in real buying power.
The whole thing is nonsense.
