When I was in college, we had one of the best Jazz programs in the South. It had been that way for quit a while before I arrived on campus. It remained that way for a considerable time after I left. We had 2 big band jazz bands and at one point they were up to 3. Now they have a combo of a vocalist, rhythm section and a coupla horns. All in the name of "popularity". Sorry, but GOOD music does not start without exposure to GOOD music. Putting a rock or pop band on the field and playing pop music ins't what I envision as the future of High School Band and music programs.

What is good music, maintube?
What is ""good"" music to one is insufferable bland pap to another, which is just how jazz, for example, affects me. Good education is all about presenting every facet of every subject in a rational manner, not one filtered by the teacher's taste.
Where is Nat's mother?
Does she have an opinion?

Take me to your Lieder...

There are only a small amount of musicians in our school district right now. The director chose this concept as a way to enlist more interest in the music program. We used to have several Atlantic coast champion marching bands in the eighties and early nineties, but the band director stepped down to spend time with his children during their school years which were in another school district, since they don't live in our district boundaries. His children are grown now and he has resumed the director duties. We do have classical training as well in the music department. For now, Fusion is at least getting some more students interested in music, so this may only be a temporary medium. It has been very successful so far. They have even performed this program in community parades, and it is well received by the public.I will have to send you a video in the fall, once the season gets under way. PS, I apologize for the mispelling in my last post, I was extremely tired the other nite, and forgot to edit .

I am a fragment of my imagination
