Hmmmm well the army (of course) controls almost all aspects of my life so I guess what I enjoy most besides attempting to learn a few songs is being a paratrooper. I just love the feel of the engines of the C-130 as it shoots up into the air on a short take off loaded with paratroopers. The sound of the doors as they open. It makes such a sucking sound at first and then you just hear the engines and the wind. The call to stand up and hook up. Being at the door and hearing STANDBY!!! and handing my static line to the jumpmaster who hands it to the safety. Looking out into the pitch dark blackness knowing that any second I would required to leap into it. That my countries enemy is waiting for me on the ground and that I would be required to find him and end his life. End his reign of terror on his own people. Then I get the GO!! and I make a good leap from the door. Lock into the jumpers hit it positioning and count to 4. I love the shock of the opening. It lets you know your OK. I can look up and faintly see the outline of a beautiful and full canopy. I make sure my feet and knees are locked together and wait. I cant really see the ground. Its much too dark. I can however see faintly see the horizon and I have trained myself to use it as my guide to know when to drop the alice pack that is in front of my stomach to my knees. below my reserve which Im glad I didnt have to use. Then I then drop it and assume the prepare to land positioning (always seems to be a bit late) so now im laying on the ground gasping for my breath that was knocked out of me as I slam into the ground while unhooking my left riser so the wind doesn't drag me. I check my legs... still work.. check my arms.... yay. I get my M4 combat ready and then and only then do i work my way out of my harness and gather my equipment. We then pretty much attempt to make contact with our team and complete our mission. Since its pitch dark and we are not allowed to use lights of any sort thats a hard task and takes a few more minutes than it really should. We then make our way to our objective. I guess thats my hobby cause its all Ive had time for the last 2 years since I joined. Well I guess it will give me a story to tell when I get old. So what is every one else's hobby besides music?

Hey Pete, endlessly jealous of those pictures. Good Lord that's a beautiful place to live. Can't say it's quite as exotic here. Lots of farms, cows, pigs, horses, and the like. Kind of boring if you ask me. And rocketeer, nice story. Interesting. I don't have anything like that. Closest I ever came to that was using the local police department's training sim. Got to shoot an AR-15 in a school shooting simulation, and I did well. Ummmmm, my dad was a sniper in the National Guard, and was at the Lucasville riots, if you remember that. Hmmm, I'm a little mundane, huh. Think I should go jump out of a plane.....

Riiiiiight......and how did we come to that conclusion? If there is something else that you'd like to say.....that's so vital to the integrity of this site, be my guest. I'd love to hear something interesting.
