What family does the piano belong to? Is it strings or percussion, because I really do not know! Please get back ASAP, coz I have to hand in this essay on friday!

A piano is an instrument in its own right, but is often classed in an orchestra as percussion as the strings are struck by a hammer to produce the sound, whereas string instruments are plucked or bowed.
