Hello,
Im currently a grade 3 level pianist and am interested in learning a second instrument. Do you think this is a good idea?

I currently have a friend who is learning the flute and piano. I myself am interested in the Oboe, however anyone got any recommnendations on instruments to learn?

Many students in my band started out on piano before they were able to start band in later years (6th grade). It is not only not that unusual, but is a good thing. Your experience on piano will aid you in playing a wind or percussion instrument. The oboe is a much needed instrument in the orchestra or band. Go for it.

I must say that your knowledge of piano is going to be a tremendous asset to you. It doesn't matter what else you learn, piano has made your ears better.
