Registered: 5/26/2004 | posted: 2/10/2005 at 11:26:32 AM ET You can quote all you want. The voices of an orchestra or wind band are soprano, alto, tenor,and bass. I've never heard of any instrument refered as sopranino.

Nor is the soprano in todays composing. The question was what is the highest voice in an instrumental family called. That is the soprano "voice".
