Hi

I'm an adult who started taking piano lessons about 2 1/2 years ago. My teacher as assigned Bartok Microksomos and we are now on vol. 2 -

I put a lot of time and effort in to my practice, but when it comes time to play these pieces for my lesson, it all goes out the door. What can I do to overcome this tricky wicket. Thanks for your advice

"Practice makes possible." The more you practice, the more possible it will be for you to perform these pieces for your teacher. As you continue practicing, you confidence in your abilities will grow, and then you'll be able to tackle just about anything!

I'll admit that this response doesn't give you much to go on, but in all honesty, the only way to solidify the correct technique into your mind is to continue practicing.

Oh wait, I did just have another idea..... you could tape-record yourself at home playing the piece properly, and then "piano-sync" to it during your lesson! With any luck your teacher wouldn't notice!!

Thankyou for your good advice. It does get quite frustrating, since I don't have much problem when I practice - for some reason when I try to play for my teacher it all seems as if I never opened the book.

Yeah, I know how you feel. But trust me, it will get better!

Thanks - I'm happy I found this site.

Bartok Microkosmos is teaching me to sigtread - but sometimes I think my eyes are ahead of what my fingers can do if that makes any sense add to that, I'm lefthanded. Anyway, I'd like to think that it will all come together one day.
