I know nothing about reading sheet usic or anything. I do know how to find the keys on the piano/keyboard such as ABCDEFG, I know where all of those keys are and everything, I just can't read sheet music. I can tell what notes are which by looking at the paper, but it takes me a long time to figure it out. I really, really want to be able to play Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. Can anyone help me, please?

Well, you have to learn the different kinds of notes. The note with a black circle means 1 beat, the note with a circle that isn't shaded means 2 beats; that means you hold it for two beats. A squiggly line is a rest for one beat, and a hat-looking note is a rest for two beats.
If you don't know what the notes are on the lines, then find a chart that tells you.
The note G is on the bottom line of the four lines.

I know all of that, too lol. I think maybe I know a little bit more than I think I do, but how in the world does that tell me what notes to play and stuff? I am really confused.

You need to start taking lesson from a good piano teacher. Stop trying to teach yourself.

My name is not "dude". Freaking grow up. She wants to play Beethovens Moonlight Sonata. I can virually guarantee that she cna't play that song by self teaching. Can you learn to get around on the piano and play melodies and simple chords? Yes. Play "real" piano music? NO. If you cna't give REALISTIC advice don't give any. DUDE!

Thanks for all of your replies. There is a guy I know who gives piano lessons, I think I will start taking them from him, because the more I try to understand, the harder it gets to me.

By the way Main Tube, that was really funny. LOL.
