Don't despair Melissa. You are not alone. There is plenty of help out there for you. Reading music will take a little time to learn and you will not be able to learn it all at once, but with time you will get it. Start with the real basics first and then gradually work your way up. If you cannot afford to take a course in how to read music, then check with your local library for all learning material on reading music such as books, videos, or DVDs. I find that I can learn better from different sources. You can also try your local community learning center. There are plenty of gifted musicians on this site that I am sure are willing to share their views. Best wishes to your musical growth Melissa!
