I suppose it's like most things, practice, practice and more practice until you can get your head round it. I know that I can do this - if I can learn to drive, use the internet and everything else why can't I learn to read music?! If anyone has any good tips it would be fab to hear them.

Middle C is the middle-most C on the piano. On the treble clef, middle C is on the first ledger line under the staff, while with the bass clef, it's the first ledger line above the staff. And, you know, after c comes e, then f, etc. Just keep on practicing... it will take a lot. Eventually, if you're dedicated, you will get it.

It is easy to see the relationship between the written notes on the grand staff and their corresponding notes on the piano keyboard. There is a book designed for folks who have had trouble grasping the language called "Bold Beginnings" by Eloise Ristad which uses this method. Also there are several decent sites out there: try this one to start . . . http://datadragon.com/education/reading/
