Hi I play the flute as like a beginning instrument. I want to finish learning how to play but I want to play guitar too. Should I chose one, take both at once or wait until i'm done learning how to play the flute?

you cannot finish learning a flute, any instrument at that. there is always somrthing new....
it is probably not a good idea to try and play two instruments, it depends on you, how..i dunno.. talanted? you are. what is wrong with a flute anyway?

It depends on what your goals are and how dedicated you are to them.

If your goal is to play in a professional orchestra, then you probably should focus on just one instrument until you're good enough to be a professional, then you can add on more as you like (without sacrificing your pratice time on your professional instrument).

If you're playing just for fun and don't expect to become a pro, then by all means play as many as you like. Just recognize that the more instruments you play, the slower your development will be on all of them because you're splitting up your practice time.

I took lessons from a guy who could play just about all the wind, brass, and percussion instruments. He was good an them all, but not up to professional caliber on any of them (but that was not his goal). So it can be done, but it can pretty much only be done at the cost of becoming an expert on any one instrument (unless you're a Mozart).

You guys, shut up! of course u can play 2 instruments if you just put your mind 2 it and go for it!! Remember, though you'll have to put work into both instruments, not just your favourite if you want to keep them both going!! GOOD LUCK!

This is the latest in very rude replies that some anonymous cat has put in in the last few hours. (it's 12:08pm CST). People ask questions and we try to give answers. Telling us to "shut up" and calling us names is rude and the sign of an unintelligent mind. Especially since you won't even allow your email addy to be seen. It's easy to hind behind "anonymous" and be rude. Come out of the closet and be a man (or woman) and stop hiding like a spoiled little coward.

Hi! I think that you can play 2 instruments if you put your mind to it. You will have to put in extra practice though! Take things 1 step at a time and I'm sure you'll manage to play loads of instruments. p.s- I'm annonymous because my mum and dad won't let me put my address up on the net, maybe that rude person is in the same situation. Just a suggestion.

Of course you can play more than one instrument! If you try hard enough and you practice everyday than you can. I play two instruments. My main instrument is the piano, and I know how to play the recorder (even though its not classified as a real instrument. If you learn how to play it, you can learn how to play a clarinet real easy) But now, I really want to learn how to play the flute! My mom doesn't really like that idea, but....
Anyway, good luck on guitar lessons. (that's the instrument I want to learn after the flute!) LOLTextText
