I got an old marching snare that was broken and i fixed it up and im trying to make it into a snare for my drumset. I put some heads on and an old set of snares but it sounds more like a tom than a snare. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

the marching snare is reall to big and deep sounding to make a good snare for a set drum. Your problem is that the snares on the bottom head are too tight or too loose. tighten the bottom head where you want it. lossen the snare adjustment more than half. retighten the snare on the sides. now while palying a t a QUIET level adjust your snare with the snare adjustment until you hear a good snare rattle.
