| posted: 6/5/2004 at 9:34:46 PM ET ok, i have been playing music since the fifth grade...i played alto sax...two christmases ago, i got piano lessons....and i can count rests, and recognize notes, but the style is off because i can't count the notes to make it flow...what should i do?

Your reaction time is off. To give you an example.
Have you ever seen people dance, and they look akward because of their lack of coordination?
Do you know why?
They are not anticipating the beat/pulse of the rhythmic pattern.
They hear the beat and react later!
When counting, you must anticipate the beat. YOU NEED TO START COUNTING OUT LOUD and USE A METRONOME.
