what are the following meant to mean and where are they on the piano/keyboards:
Cmaj7=
Am=
Em=
F=
C=
D=
Bm=
D7(9)=
Am7=
F#m=
G=
A=
Gmaj7=

why dont the notes just get placed on the sheet without these above it if the are just simply C note, F note etc?

they are chords for accompaniment. typically for guitar. Em is E minor chord, C is C chord etc.

for example, Cmaj is note combination of c, e, g and h (or b in USA)
