Anonymous Anonymous Poster From Internet Network: 24.136.117.x posted: 1/20/2004 at 3:11:43 PM ET To be "untuned" means that the instrument or person producing a sound is not in "sync" or the same as another person or instrument. To be in tune means that the person or instrument is regulated to a universal pitch (or sound) example A440. Usually, if there is a piano, the instruments that are played are tuned to the piano, and if in an orchestra, the instruments are tuned to an Oboe.
