#beginquote# Why is she switching to clarinet? At 13 she's really just beginning to read music well and develop proper technique, etc. To switch before she's developed the basic skills necessary to be proficient on ONE instrument is not a wise move. She'll get frustrated when she's behind the other students. If she truly wants to be a clarinet player -- RENT a beginner student horn from a reputable local music store and see if she wants to stick with it -- then upgrade to an intermediate horn if she plans to continue her musical studies on clarinet. LeBlanc and Yamaha both make very good wooden instruments and my students have had great success into college on those models. Good luck!! There is no "I" in band. #endquote#
