#beginquote# Voices can cross so that the tenor line might ,in fact, be higher than the alto line. Probably not the soprano, though. I would not think it would be common. I suppose it is probable that notes for tenor might be higher in the vocal range of the male voice than notes in the soprano voice of a female. Harmonically the soprano is the highest (melody) voice. Let me clarify. The vocal ranges go from bass (lowest), to tenor, to alto,to soprano (highest). #endquote#
