#beginquote# A scale is made up of 13 half steps up the keyboard. example, looking at the piano, from C to B, including white and black notes. a chord is three or more notes played at the same time. if you are in the key of C major, a major I chord would be C-E-G. a minor second (ii) would be D-F-A. major and minor has to do with the order of whole steps and or half steps in the chord.
