#beginquote# #beginquote# I can play it fine, but for some reason that's not good enough for everyone else. #endquote# Well, it should be:) Reading and understanding time signitures is part of learning to read music, but tell them that all these things, including metronome settings at the top of the page, came about when there were no mp3s or CDs and no way of hearing a piece of music . It would be unusual now for a musician working in a popular genre not to have heard a piece at least once before playing it. If you have used TABS, for example, you will know that there are no note values and rests shown, only pitch and techniques like slides and bends. Guitar Pro5 and Finale NotePad are both available as free downloads if you like the idea of writing your own music easily. And Progressive (a US company) produce a great range of Music Theory books which are easily understood. #endquote#
