#beginquote# Well it depends on the time signature( the numbers on the staff by the trble clef sign) for me when i need to learn when to come in i count it out. if the piece is in 4/4 time and have 8 bars of rest i count 1-2-3-4, 2-2-3-4, 3-2-3-4,4-2-3-4, and so on until 8-2-3-4, then you play after you say that. Yes is is really tricky to hear your sax while having a tuba right behind you. believe me. I played tenor sax for our jr.band and i had to sit next to the baritone(smaller form of a tuba) and all i heard was the baritone. But we did have the same part, but i wished people could hear me. I also play trumpet for our senoir band. that i can hear over everything. Don't feel to bad that you have a hard time, i mean everyone's like that when they first pick up an instrument. When i started I wanted to be the bast and to do that I practiced hard everyday and listened to my instructor. Then the year after that he asked me if i wanted to go to this band invitational which was a one day thing where we learn music for one day and perform it that afternoon. yes its hard if you never saw it before, but it is exciting to learn. Then i joined this orchestra thing that we rehearsed for 6 sundays then had a performance on the sat after. its great, but it kind of gets scary and confusing. I say confusing because in all those things i mentioned the sections are huge especially the trumpet section, but in my school we have two people in the trumpet section and i am much older and more experienced then the other one.So really he's depending on me to continuestly play so he can take a few rest at times, but inorchestra we can take rest in the middle of the song at not notice the differene. so yah just stick with what you like. > Trumpets rule < *Saxophones are OK* Bandito for life #endquote#
