#beginquote# If there are two parts written on the same satve (1st and 2nd trumpet) the higher part stems (not sticks) go up. The lower part stems go down. On a peice of music that only has one voice per stave, everything revolves around the middle line. Notes below the middle line stem go up, note above the middle line go down. Easier to read. notes ON the middle line ar determined by the not following. If the following note is below the stem is the same. If the following note is above the stem is the same. #endquote#
